97- Power Steering leak fixed
If you are losing power steering fluid, have a look at the hoses leading to the p/s cooler (just in front of the condenser).
At first I thought it was a leak in one of the rubber hoses which connects the cooler to the hard lines, but it turned out that the lower hard line had rusted through where the rubber hose attaches. It broke right off when I went to loosen the clamp.
My quick and cheap solution was to cut the hard line 6 inches up where it was clean, and use a longer length of rubber hose.
None of this is particularly difficult, except that you have to remove the headlamp to get at it, which in turn requires removing the entire bumper, which has mounts so rusted it falls off (see other thread) in your hands. Then the fasteners on the headlamp break, and the whole thing mushrooms out of control, and the car is out of commission all week waiting for parts.
Hey, but that power steering is working really great!
