Default 97 Front bumper mount brackets disintegrated

Anyone else have this problem?

Front bumper mounts rusted to near nothing. One side was barely hanging there. I literally ripped it off with my hands!

Not much rust trouble on the car in general. Parts are cheap enough, but something of a pain to fix.

Must be an up north thing.

I have 0 rust on my car except one very tiny spot by the trunk, the size of a sharpie tip.

Never heard of anything like that before.

I got the same problem on my 93 lx Accord....I guess the first owner had a leaking battery cause when I got it there was acid everywhere!
well everything under the battery has rust now and sure enough the thread and bolt were gone
I just found this out like last month when I removed my bumper!

At least you get to spend some more quality time bonding with your car, lol.

Check a Junker and see if they have the parts.

Here's a picture. Pretty, eh?
The good news is the new pair was just $20 net.

I'm filling the new ones with urethane foam to keep the salt water out.
They are designed to trap water.
I will also seal the joint when bolting to body for good measure.

Just pull out your old rusty bolts and buy new bumper mounts on line for 10$ each and new bolts. Should take you twenty minutes to change if you know what your doin otherwise a little longer. easy to figure out though.
