thinking about selling the s2k, getting a fit, and a 08' cbr 600rr
well i love my s2k 04' BB. but lately i've been getting hooked on bikes (a few of my friends have them). i have never ridden anything more than a scooter and a 4 wheeler at 40mph. my friends have some older bikes they are gonna let me learn on for a while. i just don't know if it's worth getting rid of the s2k. i know the 600rr isn't the best beginner bike but i'm not going to learn on that. i want lower car payments so the bike and insurance is affordable. just wanted to get your guys, and girls thoughts.thanks!
Don't get a brand new bike for your first bike. Even if you plan on "learning" on another bike. The learning period will probably be a lot longer than you realize. Not only is it a bad beginners bike, but its a horrible financial decision.
Wait a few years, yes I said years, before thinking about a brand new machine. The only exception I would make to this is if you find a killer deal on one of the lower priced models. These don't seem to drop in value as much once they leave the lot, and you wont take such a big hit if you do something stupid like drop it.
It might not be as cool, but its a much smarter thing to do.

Lets see...
I went from S2k, to Evo, to another Evo, to bike, and now trying to sell my evo because I just don't drive anymore except track days and those are few and far between being a student.
So I say, hell yes do it. But get a nice used Element instead so you can haul the bike around.

The pic of a bike wedged into the element is downright awesome.
Do you stand to make any money after you pay off what you owe on the s2K? If you can get enough from that and buy a learner bike outright and then finance the Fit I say do it, but that's without knowing much about your financial situation.

factor in MSF, insurance(could be very high), gears and stuff to it also.
not trying to rain on your wedding but don't get caught after you drop some green for a bike and not ending enjoying it like you should

I would never advise someone to sell a car to buy a bike. especially if they never ridden before.
believe me, riding and owning a bike has many down sides that just aren't apparent until you have one. Keep your s2, dude!!!!

As said, you need to factor in insurance for the bike, cost of riding gear (expensive for quality gear, and you usually want warm and cold weather gear), etc.
Will you want to mod it? That's costly.
Ride a lot? Tires typically only last 2-4k on a bike. Much more frequent maintenance intervals than cars and more important too.

Whoa! Tires only last 2-4K?
I've had my dual-compound Michelin Pilot Road 2's for over 5,000 miles now and they still have 75%ish tread left.

i was in the same situation a few months ago. i sold my s2000 and picked up an RSX, mainly because i needed more room to haul around stuff. and now im looking for a bike. but its up to you
tires do cost a pretty penny but I was able to put out 5k miles on my corsa 3s and another 6k on my pilot powers on my 954rr. It all depends how you ride it, and no, I'm no *****.
I'd buy a new Ford Ranger for like $10K and get a bike. Then you can carry your bike to the track and have a nice little pickup truck to drive around. Done deal.
