H22 Heads, do they differ?
I have an H22a motor fitted in my civic, unfortunatly the head gasket has just gone.
I've got a spare h22 head but I don't know what model motor it came from. I thought instead of sending the one attatched to my engine to be skimmed, I could just use my spare one.
I guess my question is are all h22 heads the same?
thanks

Not all H22 heads are the same. The Type-S and EuroR heads are hand-polished from the factory. There's also speculation that the 98+ (code PCF) heads have a better casting finish.
Any head should fit if that is all you are looking for. As vinuneuro stated, however, some of the heads have better flow characteristics. If you don't know where your other head is from, I would probably suggest pulling your known head off the block and getting it milled.
Just make sure you buy the correct headgasket. If you have a H22A bottom end, buy that gasket. If you have an H22A4 bottom end, buy the gasket for the H22A4.
