Default Exhaust Question. Want to keep it quiet.

OK, slowly im progressing on the integra project. I have in regards to the exhaust. The plans right now call for a sleeved B18C block, 84.5mm bore and all that fun stuff running a newer BB style turbo. Anyways, I want to keep it fairly quiet yet plop down around 300ish hp daily driven. Just wondering how long i can run a stock sized exhaust to keep it kinda undercover. Just boggles my head why factory porsches and other oem turbo cars can stay relatively quiet and still plop down decent hp.

They use lots of boost and have restrictive exhausts. It also depends on the muffler. I got a thermal exhaust and I plan to put a resonator on to quieten it up.

I'd have to probably recommend a Borla "Turbo" muffler. It's straight through and is DEAD quite at idle and barely audible at cruising. However, it opens up nice when you're at WOT. I can't say how happy I am with this muffler, except that I should've stepped up to a bigger diameter, but that's my dumb fault.

My Apexi WS isn't a "turbo" (straight thru design) exhaust, but it does the job. I'm happier sacrificing some power up top rather than drown out my own thinking all the time.

Apexi WS = quiet, reasonable gains, good value, stainless steel,

i run a 3" w/ a big *** resonator, a magnaflow strait through exhaust and a 3" cat. i can't say its dead quiet, but it certantly isn't loud.

you could also get something w/ a silenser....or try to have something made to fit a custom one, since most exhausts that come w/ them are loud as hell!

magnaflow

silencer AKA butt plug

i recommend finding the largest magnaflow muffler that will fit. keep in mind the longer the muffler, the quieter and deeper the sound and the larger it is, the more sound deadening material there is to suck up the sound. also definitely look into Borla... sounds like its even quieter than Magnaflow and Borla flows great. (despite having a crappy customer service)

I use the Greddy Power Extreme, its pretty quiet at idle and at cruise. Also running a cat will keep it a little more quiet.

I run 3inch dp witha 3inch exhaust to an Apex'i n1 turbo muffler(3incher)
I do have a resonator in the middle. it's not loud at idle but it burbbles like a ****.
under boost it gets considerably louder but open wastegate sort of takes over after full boost

LIke they said largest magnaflow muffler you can find. I use a 3" tube style muffler and it's not much louder than stock at idle and only gets really deep (not loud or cofee canish) at WOT. Hope this helps.

Later,
