Thinking of putting a pair of 6.5 subs in the rear location in my 96 hatch has anyone done this?

6.5" subs? Made by who?

Anything can be done, but realistically for those to sound good you would need to fabricate boxes for them. What are you trying to accomplish? A sparewell enclosure with a single 8 or 10 would probably be a lot better option.

JL Audio, Kicker and elemental desings all have nice 6.5 subs. the ED subs can handle great power and should provide incredible bass-midbass. I was thinking of fiberglassing in the rear speaker cavity

go to partsexpress.com and look for tangbang 6.5" subs. Those are a lot cheaper than what jl or kicker offer, and sound pretty good for the money and size

I'd recommend trying to find someone local who's done it before to give you some pointers if you can. It's not hard, just rather involved.

I have 2 JL 6w-0's in my Prelude. They sound decent paired with my Memphis 3004st. I have also owned those tang band subs mentioned above. Those are good speakers for the money too.

JL 6w3's can be free aired. we have done them in a few cars, I am about to put them in the rear of a mini clubman in place of the 6x9s in the rear doors. I love how tight and smooth they sound. I would really reccomend them.
