TYPE-R retail value
I'm trying to sell my ITR and I want to know how much should I sell it for. Clean title 2001 USDM NHBP with 78K miles. The car is stock and never been modified. I replaced the stock rims with EUDM ITR rims, Optional side skirt and rear valences. 2000 NSX will be the replacement.... I'm stationed here until nov next year... Thank you.
If this car is being sold in the States, I'd say maybe $16-17.5K. $17K+ assumes the condition is very good, i.e. wear consistent with the mileage is okay, but no obvious serious body or interior damage, paint in good condition, all scheduled maintenance up to date including a new timing belt, etc..
If it's being sold in Germany, I have no idea what prices run over there.

Not necessarily. The economy (and high fuel prices) are hitting the market unevenly. It's a buyer's market for big SUV's, a seller's market for fuel-efficient compacts. I haven't seen any evidence of a softening of ITR prices.

Yeah, Although it seems like its a sellers market for Fuel Efficient Cars, I know people that work at the Local Honda Dealership, and both Toyota and Honda (Owned by the same person) are having a really tough time selling even used CARS. The Economy right now is terrible and people simply arent buying cars. Obviously Your going to have an easier time selling a small car, compared to a big truck or SUV, But Its still not as good as it was even a few years ago...

As my dealership's Senior salesman. Let me tell you, it is a great time to sell a Honda. Honda has continued to grow and post record sales/profits. i'll elaborate later when I am not so tired.

For the record, the market I am in is slightly smaller than yours. Its not that. I think if they had clarified what cars they where talking about then it would have been more of a clear picture. I'm betting it was typical car salesman bitching and moaning. We all do it.
The used cars they have are most likely big trucks and suv's. I am having the same problem. Right now Honda is attracting alot of new buyers who have never owned a Honda and they are trading in those domestics in mass. My used car lot looks like a Chevy or Ford lot. I have never seen anything like it before. In that respect it kinda sucks but on the new car side I am grossing more than I ever have before so it is equaling out.
As far as values of an R go. They DID indeed drop a few thousand earlier in the summer. Every premium gas vehicle dropped substantially last summer. Good news is it seems to be going the other way now as fears and public perceptions calm down but they still look to be less than they where at this time last year.

You can see August sales and August YTD sales for Honda/Acura cars here.
Here's how August YTD sales for 2008 compare with 2007:
Fit +54.9%
Accord +8.5%
Civic +14.2%
S2000 -33.6%
Odyssey -11.2%
Pilot -17.2%
CRV -4.1%
Element -19.5%
Ridgeline -17.3%
TL -20.3%
TSX +1.9%
RL -23.5%
MDX -12.5%
RDX -20.1%
In sum, Honda car sales are up 14 percent, but Acura car sales and both Honda and Acura truck sales (including SUVs, pickups, minivans) are down 11-15 percent. Since Honda car sales are well over half of the volume, total American Honda vehicle sales are up slightly. Those are nationwide figures for new cars.
As for used cars, fuel-efficient used cars are selling at a premium, and people are losing their shirts selling big SUVs. Just like Shawn says. (He's closer to this than most of us, including me.)

The only problem with selling an ITR for big money is it will take a while to find the right buyer to pay that kind of cash for an 8 year old car.
I know it is a ITR and all but for that kind of money, be prepared to sit on it for a while and listen to a bunch of low ball offers that may begin to sound good if you are itching to get out of it. Believe me I know

Yeah my brother is in a similar boat. Traded in his GSR a couple years ago for a 99 Silverado, which he owed 16000 after all was said and done, now the thing is worth around 7k and he still owes 12k. After riding in his buddies R He really has the bug to get back into Hondas, but with gas prices like they are he's stuck.
