Default leaking oil.

So i thought i had fixed my problem by replacing the valve cover gasket...
but nope, my car has kept leaking oil....

It leaks from where the arrow is pointing, and where the rectangle box is at.
that is where the oil seaps out from.

and the oil runs over my engine stamp.

how severe is this?
Is it hard to fix?

need help.
thanks.

my temp gauge was going up.
but i stopped the car and turned it off.

and no, i've never replaced the head gasket.

i just replaced the valve cover gasket about 3 weeks ago, not even 20 miles on the new valve cover gasket.
I hardly drive the car due to the state ref ticket it has against it.
but i still want to fix the car to good running condition.

So there was no oil leaking before you replaced the VC gasket? Did you use any RTV or HondaBond when you replaced it?

You don't have to, but a lot of people will recommend it.

I recommend you clean the area well with carb cleaner, run/drive it for a bit and see if you can pinpoint the exact source of the leak.

its not the headgasket. please do not go pulling off your head and wasting time and money to replace that when its not going to help. oil leaks in that area can be hard to track down because the oil always collects right at the top of the block where it meets the head and people automatically think its a headgasket. it could be the end cam plug, vtec solenoid gasket, or the distributor seal. as you can see it is all over the tranny as well so its probable the distributor seal. look under the distributor and check to see if it is dripping down the head. also when doing the valve cover gasket honda bond should be applied on the corners of the cam caps to ensure no leaks.

I doubt it, looks like oil is leaking from several places. It just tends to well up in that spot, then sometimes people freak out thinking it's the HG leaking.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by FRU &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">its not the headgasket. please do not go pulling off your head and wasting time and money to replace that when its not going to help. oil leaks in that area can be hard to track down because the oil always collects right at the top of the block where it meets the head and people automatically think its a headgasket. it could be the end cam plug, vtec solenoid gasket, or the distributor seal. as you can see it is all over the tranny as well so its probable the distributor seal. look under the distributor and check to see if it is dripping down the head. also when doing the valve cover gasket honda bond should be applied on the corners of the cam caps to ensure no leaks.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Excatly thanks for saving me many keystrokes.

they have dye you add to the oil that glows under ultraviolet light if you can find the dye thats a very precise wasy to find where it leaks.
