i got a jdm b16a i had a b16 s1 trans in it but im swapping it out for a gsr cable trans.will i notice the difference alot?

 

92-93 gsr cable trans is pretty much = b16 trans.

 

okay well the reason why im askin is cause my friend told me that hes 3rd was rebuilt or something and that his 3rd gear would go up to a 100 something when he hits redline is that corect or do you think they swapped it out for a ls 3rd gear?

if my gears are still good on my s1 trans will they be able to switch with the gsr trans?

 

IIRC, your b16 cable 3rd gear will NOT work with the gsr cable trans since its internals differ from those of the other cable b boxes; cable gsr internals are the same as those in hydro b boxes.

It does sound as though an ls 3rd was used. Good news is that a new 3rd gear is not too expensive from Honda, and while the trans is out it's def worth replacing- not too tough. Maybe better news is that I prolly have a hydro 3rd gearset in decent shape for pretty cheap. I prolly even have the brass synchro rings.
