so i have a 5-zigen full exhaust system on my civic si (b18c jdm type r motor)

i replaced the resenator with a pipe because my resinator was making noise, it had some broken material in the inner wall, well now my car is a lot a lot a lot louder, and i feel like its loosing power maybe because of back presure? am i just tripin out?

do you guys like your type r that loud? lol

 

of course getting rid of a resonator is going to make it louder. personally no i do not like my cars loud. when i had my old ek with a b16b motor i had the apexi world sport 2 and LOVED it. nice and quite.

now about the power, don't trust the butt dyno it's never very accurate

if you can get your hands on a backpressure tester you should have about 1psi of pressure and no more than 3psi. the whole reason that backpressure effects it so much is cause when we overlap the intake and exhaust valves the exhaust going out pulls in the fresh air coming in but with no back pressure you lose this effect but just like everybody said you couldnt feel it even if you wanted to.

 

ok i understand, but would a normal exhaust system like 5-zigen without a resonator have back pressure problems? thats all.. straight peace of pipe is substituted instead of the resonator..


i also have this other thing, lets say im rolling at 40-mph in 4th gear or fifth or 3rd it doesnt matter, press the clutch all the way, the RPM drops all the way to like .10 rpms instead of like 1k rpm (1) it drops to the point like it wants to die? what could this be?

that's the tuning in the ECU or your idle screw or both.

 

Butt Dynos FTW....saves time and money

 

how can the ecu need tunning? its a virgin jdm type r ecu 98+ spec. now the idle screw im not sure. the idle sits perfect when its in neutral, steady 1k or so

 

heres a hint kid bolt ons do not do anything to the performance of a car without tuning. (it's all in your head)
