Default need help on new TIG inverter welder

Hello All,

I hope you can help me out. I just got a new welder, it's a EVERLAST EV-Super200P AC/DC PULSE CUT TIG ARC (MMA). I bought a tank filled with argon for it, and set it up to test it out.... I got the plasma cutter to work, cuts really nicely even on aluminum! Up until I got this new welder I have been using a little MIG welder for all my welding projects. But I wanted the ability to weld aluminum, stainless, etc. I know that this new welder is not a name brand welder and I know it is made in China. I can not afford a expensive name brand TIG welder, so please don't respond with "made in China crap so it will never work" This is what I have to work with so I am asking help in figuring out how to set it up. I took a welding class some years ago at a community college that dealt with the usual different types of welding. I was able to briefly use the TIG welders they had in the class.

Can someone please help me in setting up this welder to weld aluminum/steel as I really have no clue on how to go about this, and I know that there are quite a few people on this website that are really really good at welding. I currently have a tank of argon and some 3/32 tung rods in both red and green variety. I look at all the ***** and switches and just get confused and frustrated. I was able to sort of get the thing to work with some mild steel and the red rod...but not very well... When I tried the green rod with some aluminum I didn't have much luck, by the time I got a puddle the tip of the rod had burned/melted to a nub. This was all with 1/8" filler rod one for steel and one for aluminum.

some pictures of my machine...

from the looks of it, its not a welding machine...

its a add-on for a tig machine that allows for pulse welding... but i could be mistaken, i have never seen this one before...

if it is a welding machine, it should have came with everything you need to get started... take pics of everything you got with the box..

its a welder, dont pay attention to that.

you use pointed red tungsten for all welding with inverters.

get some 1/16 filler as well to start with, 1/8 is HUGE.

you shouldnt mess with all those ***** until you can weld aluminum without them.
those are for a pulse or for wave shaping functions. mostly theyre self explanatory, but you can google for more instructions on what they mean

use like 3-6 seconds of postflow and as far as cleaning width it should be about 1/16" wider than your weld bead. you can tell what it is because it is almost a white color.

you can use other types tungsten on inverters, just don't use green 100%.

those china welders dont weld alu. very well at all for some reason when welding steels set the welder up on the non-pulse and start from there after you get the hang of it move over to the pulse and start messing around with the settings.. and like mentioned above if you cant figure out what each setting does use google. and again like mentioned above dont worry about pulsing alu. its really a waste of time.

red and green tungsten work just fine but i would go with a smaller red. 1/16 unless you are welding some nice fillets.

For aluminum, set the current to A/C mode, and set your amperage with the "basic current" button.

If you could get a pic of the other buttons, it would be cool.

I'm sure you'll be able to weld just fine with this machine. Does it come with a foot control?

they come with a decent foot control, they weld just fine ive had little problem with ours i got it for a plasma cutter, and the tig as a bonus. both work well, expecially the plasma cutter. the plasma torch that came broke on the first cut though, so i had to get a different style (another china made one just different style) works perfect now..
