prelude 93 what to do?!
HI!
i got this 93 prelude that i want to basically pour my heart out to.
i dont care about looks much and 'on a budget. lol
i want to make this car be able to take off and i dont know where to start. i did the intake and exhaust already and i was thinking of swapping to a vtech h22. but that'll take me a while. in the mean time i want to know what i can set aside so when i get the engine i could add the parts, switch, ect. I need like some outline or something (im a rookie lol) Im new at all of this and your help would really be cool.
thanks peoples.

Hello, please read the Prelude FAQs at the top of the page, especially the "I'm new, what can I do for more power?" thread.
a clutch setup will do more for performance driving than any i/h/e ever could IMO. are you planning to leave the internals stock? if so i would suggest a nice sprung clutch setup with a lightened flywheel.
i've personally driven an ACT 6puck with a 8lb flywheel, gets off a deadstop real quick. i would go with ACT or Exedy brands for clutches, go ahead and do some searching to see what suits you.

clutch setup.... hmm.. one of my friends was saying to get a stage 3. but i dunno. he never had a car fixed up to know that kind of stuff. lol.
with the internals i was planning to fix em up, making the inside "bulletproof" so it could handle a turbo.. but thats a long way to go. for now i was lookin for something that would stick around for when i would do the engine swap.
can u plz explain the clutch thing more? i dont wanna feel like a retard. lol
thanks for the help.

http://www.howstuffworks.com is a great website that will explain how a lot of things work such as a clutch; if your really that curious. Anyways, I always found that Energy Suspension Motor Mounts would work wonders on take off, or in short...ESMM. It'll help your motor from jumping around too much and are relativitly cheap.
I have been told the stock H23 will hold up to a turbo because of it being an iron block. Don't quote me on that. If you want the H22A, why bother the H23? Just strap on a turbo and run the **** out of it. It wouldn't really matter if you blew it, right. That is if you plan to do the H22A swap. The turbo should be an easy change over.

we won't. h motors ALL have frm sleeves. low boost only, and even then......
also there is no cheap way to make ludes go fast. always time and money, just depends on your goals.

also youve done a new exhaust and intake, how much did you spend on that. an h22a motor for just the motor is 790+ship...at tiger japanese so it might not have to wait that long. But i guess the first question is what time of motor/tranny do you have in it now?

Ignore this entire BS statement
H23 does not have an iron block, it's the same as the H22 block. Don't 'strap' a turbo onto anything....this guy has NO CLUE.

holy hell i didnt even read what this guy wrote... turbo being the easiest changeover wtf
what better idea would be is to part out the h23 and make enough to buy the damn motor from hmo or tiger not just **** it away being reckless...minue 29832983 percentage points.

So far everything else is stock. inside n out. i bought it off some dealer and it already had like 260,000 miles into it. so im assuming this engine's just as old. 790?!?! thats freakin CHEAP!!! wow. imma look into that one.

You will find mixed reveiws from Tiger, aka crappy motors in bad shape or missing parts, and taking ages.
HMO, great rep, quick to ship, you call and they answer and talk to you, and answer questions straight-up.
Oh and my H23 spun a bearing then snapped the crank at 182K, so 260K you are doing well!

Check out this thread on Prelude Power "http://preludepower.com/forums...block". Rash, whom very well known and respected wrote, "^lmao...an h23 VTEC is an h22 head on an h23 block. Of course it will have more power because it has all of the benefits of the fatter cam lobes with VTEC, AND a longer stroke. It's also an iron block so you can boost to the heavens!"

I didn't say the easiest. I said it would be an easy change over. This meaning, to my knowledge, you shouldn't have to make any modifications. You may have to change out the manifold, but I'm not sure.
