Please have a look at my new engine's compression test
98 B18B1, have had some problems with swap, car idling funny now as well as a rattling sound comming from inside the engine untill it warms up. (adjusted valves 2 times already-OK)
Tested hot, cranking 6 times each with WOT.
#1 = 165
#2 = 160
#3 = 160
#4 = 165
New engine is for FI, old engine sucked, burned oil ..etc....
New engine
EDIT: YAY!, got DSM injectors today for $20 bux!!!!

Numbers look a little low. They are all almost equal which is good, but a little low nontheless. I say this because before I tore my engine apart, I always got 200 compression to all four cylinders when the motor was hot or cold. this was on a 99' b18b.
Hot engine, 98 B18b. The guage may be a little low with the numbers but I think its ok cause of how close they are.
Your new engine has 4 equally worn cylinders. As long as it still seals and doesn't burn oil you are fine.
You are on the low end of the acceptable range.

How many miles does it have on it? My numbers were low when I hardly had any miles on it, but when I put around 4-500 I checked again and the numbers were higher. It usually takes a little time for the rings to break in. Looks good none the less, at least you wont be burning oil no mo!
Heh, I have roughly those same compression numbers. But my engine smokes like a **** due to a cracked ringland. God, I love turbo.
Nice clean teg you have there!

I just got a comp check on my 99 b18b w/ 47k and got 210.215.210.215
Depending on what CR the pistons are in that first B18B, I would say it looks good. He mentioned it was built for FI, so I assume lower CR, hence the lower compression results.
And 210psi across all 4 cylinders in a stock B18b is unusual...at least to me it is.

So what would my higher compression test results mean? I've only got 47k miles on it... I've been running rich but that shouldn't cause that much carbon build up.. Honda dealership said my compression test numbers were great, what's the deal? I'm rebuilding my bottom end in a few weeks is there anything I should get checked out prior? I bought my ride used with 25k on it, it had a few mods done - suspension, wheels, intake, exhaust but I seriously doubt any engine work was done to it. Why would my numbers be so similar if they are exceptionally high? I don't get it.. Could I just have one of those lucky blocks that was built nearly perfectly to spec?? hehe maybe I don't wanna rebuild it then.. Any input would be appreciated, I can scan my comp. check results in if you guys have doubts about them being real...

I know comp. results vary from place to place depending on the variables that directly affect them such as engine warmth, rpm, etc... C'mon somebody's gotta know why my comp. results are so damn high
Could that big of a compression increase be attributed to the testing method, seems pretty huge?
