Toggling Power Steering
This is just a thought. Over the weekend my power steering belt came off and of course without power steering gives you more power. I was wondering if there was a way to have a toggle switch for the motor of the power steering so when i am feeling lazy have it on, and when i want to race turn it off. Or should I just revmove the thing all together? I know it sounds noobish...but I need an opinion. TIA
your idea is not possible...well, anything is possible but this isnt feasable without tons of money and custom fab work.
powersteering in your prelude is belt driven and you see modest horsepower gains by removing the powersteering because that belt is no longer taxing the engine (parasitic drag...). to make this posible you would have to engineer a system that would engage and disengage the belt (similar to the way that an A/C compressors clutch works). also, the physical steering rack poses some issues as well...this would be really hard.
