civic keeps dieing at idle HELP
ok so when im driving every thing is fine. But when i go to come to a stop the car will idle fine for a sec and then just die. I have put a new coil, iginter, wires and plugs (for other reason). I have check every thing it only dose it when your siting at idle after coming to a light. when i put the coil and igniter back in i kinda just eye balled it from memory when puting the dizzy in. If my timing was off could this cause my problem.
if your dieing at idle then your accelerator cable may just be loose
tighten it and let the car run at idle but it
seems like your not getting enough fuel
do a fuel clean, (replace the fuel filter, and use fuel system cleaner)
why would it die aT idle if the cable is loose.
today i was working on trying to figure out my problem a nd i just started it up and let it idle. Like before idles fine but randomly just shuts off. i get back in the car and it fire right back up and then randomly just shuts off. I timed it to see if it was doing it at a consistant time but its random. Any help would be great im going crazy

If your timing is off yes that can cause problems. Always make an index mark prior to distributor removal. Get a timing light and time it. Then go from there. Any codes?

Civic Idle Fluctuation
If you're working on an '88-91 Civic with idle fluctuation (particularly a dual-point injection model), check the throttle cable free play. The EACV has trouble controlling the idle properly if the cable is adjusted too tight.
