i dont understand
okay, here is my issue
i have a 00 y8 motor, it was swapped into my dx hatch.
the head had some crazy tapping issues so i swapped a y7 onto it. with a y8 manifold that was previously on my d16y7 motor. so it wont have any problems. except on the back there are 2 holes with 2 bolts it plugged it because i believe the y8 manifold i had was from a manual and not an auto. because the auto has them blocked off.
here is the problem. when i run the y8 ecu it will start the car but it idles all [freak]ed up...
when i swapped the y7 in there, without doing the iacv fix it wont start. it sounds like it wants to but wont. then i get an error code 14 [ics malfuntction??]
also when i had the y7 head on the y8 block still running the vtec cpu it would idle all [freak]ed up and be around like 100rpms lol.
all i did was change the oil, headgasket, and coolant. I dont understand what is going on. Can anyone help me? i had an old thread but i felt i needed to update, because its no longer how it was.

From what you are saying is that you have a Y8 block with a Y7 non-VTEC head and a Y8 manual intake manifold.
When using a Y8 ECU (P2P), you must use a 2-Wire IACV with a 2-Wire connector and do the following IACV fix:
for 96-98 OBD2a

99-00 OBD2b

I would not recommend using this ECU since it will not right correctly and will give you CEL's for malfunctioning VTEC
When using a Y7 ECU (P2E) you must use your Y7 throttle body with the 3-wire IACV. Also, you must use your Y7 throttle body gasket or it will never idle right.
You most likely have to adjust the Idle screw aswell, which is a fairly large flat head screw on the throttle body.

would i really need to adjust the idle? i thought you werent supossed to be able to do that on my motor [96-98]
but since all your other posts have helped me ill give it a shot after i get my timing right.

When I swapped a Y8 manifold onto my Y7 motor, my idle was way too low. It almost did not want to stay running at idle. It was sitting around 200 or below until I adjusted the idle screw out.
