Default Heater Core question

I am taking out my heater core from underneath the dash. I am just curious what happens with the heater core hoses that connect to the engine. Not really what i do with the hoses but what do i do with the heater core connections on the block. Do i run one hose from one port to the other and the coolant will simply flow through it as if it passed through the heater core?

Help me out guys :D

you can just plug them both off back at the engine. No need to loop them together.

You can get a heater hose coupler to connect them together which is what a lot of people in Florida do this since it is so hot down there. You live in Canada where it gets VERY cold in the winter. Why would you want to remove the heater core unless you store the car all winter?

I will be storing the car every winter I have a little DD civic that takes care of the brutal winters up here. -40°c weather and it always fires up with out even being plugged in lol.

If i didn't do the connector thing though how would i just cap it off though.

I used a short length of heater hose, 2 hose clamps and the right sized nut to plug the hose...not too pretty but it works.

lol thanks. I guess i'll fab something up or just run the line from one end to the other. Seems like the easier way out. thanks for the replies guys.

another idea is get a hose repair kit that has the barbed fittings, and a heater hose with a loop in it, and use that to loop it if you want. I can honestly say that although I don't drive my lude in the winter, there can be damn cold morning before cruises or such, where I do like having a heater. Of course if my car was track only I would strip it all out for weight.

I meant to say the right sized BOLT, not nut, haha

Funny thing is it is my summer dd/track car on ocassion. My gf is not at all thrilled about no a/c and no heater. I know several times in the morning it is still pretty cold out or when car meets end at 4-5am it is cold. The truth is though, even at those times i typically have my windows rolled down listening to my music in t-shirt lol. Cold does not really get to me. Unless it is below -30 °c then it starts to hurt a bit haha.
