Default 96 or 97 honda accord ex

This car is my girl friends mom's car. i am just trying to figure out what happened. it worked like a champ for every intil last night i went to go start it and nothing. i turn the key lights dont dim, i tryed to jump it nothing. when i turn the key i can here i think the fuel pump pushing fuel up but there is no spark to the plugs. any where to start would be helpful

Please clarify the situation;
the engine cranks but will not run?

the engine does not crank over ?

Do you have a test light for making some simple diagnostic checks?

Knowing the fuel pump runs a couple seconds when the key is turned on IS good info.

no engine will not crank at all. im thinking it is a crank sensor but im not sure
