Default Low Compression question

Hey I was wondering what the lowest compression ratio I should go in order to make the optimum amount of power?

Dude....I am not trying to bash your ***** here, but what kind of question is this? What power are you trying to make? 300? 20,000?

What's your build? What is the car for?

Different compression ratios are for different things. People have boosted on 11.5-1 before, while most people boost on 9:1...it all depends on what your goals are.

well I'm looking to have a sick *** DD my power goals are 350-400 on a fully built head (crower stage 2 cams) and block(without sleeving) . I've heard that if you have to low of a compression it restrains the motors power and if the compression is to high then it limits the amount of PSI your able to push.

Sounds like you need to search and learn.

That is knowledge you have to learn. Wish it was that easy that we could just be told everything huh!

Thats true about comp. I go as low as i can that way you are able to force more air into the cylnder = more power

What motor/car is this for? Most of these motors can handle 350-400 on stock internals and a good tune without touching the motor.

Sorry, but unless you're maybe talking about a K-series or the F-series out of the S2K's I would not trust a stock block honda to 400 WHP on pump gas. My old stock B16 died at about 330 on pump gas after a year.

400 on pump out of a D16 is going to be hard. For the record, you only have one CAM. I'd run Vitaras but even then you're going to be hard pressed to make 400 on the pump stuff without methanol. Unless you get 100-104 unleaded at the pumps.

yeah thats what i was thinking i know i have to build the block. A friend of mine made 318 whp on 16psi w/ a d16 so its pretty close.

That's 82 WHP short of 400, which is a long way to come on pump gas. 316 isn't "pretty close" to 400, imo.

Theres probably about 200 cars on this forum alone that have made over 400 whp with stock B series motors on pump gas....

Now saying that, I didn't know he had a D16....knowing that, I'd tell him to shoot for no higher than 285 whp to be safe...

well seeing as how the previous guys (CFT) that tuned the car got 238whp on 14psi and the new tune came out at 318whp at 16psi only two psi more, I could imagine it being tuned on mid 20s hitting 400whp or a few lower

Keep in mind its a single cam D16 man...not exactly the beefiest of motors to be pushing 20+ psi into haha...I think your asking for a big kaboom pushing much past 320 whp on a stock motor...
