i have a 2000 Honda Prelude with 51,000miles on it. for some odd reason when i turn off my car about every 2-3 minutes there is a wierd noise coming from my manifold or somewhere in that area i cant figure out what it is but it is not affecting my car in anyway ( I hope not ) but it makes a odd noise. can someone please tell me what this is and one more thing my AC does not work. so can that be a factor??

My guess would be on a vacuum hose that has collapsed and is vibrating. The mystery is why anything is happening while the engine is off...

Isolate the sound firstly. Use a hallow tube and put your ear to one end and wave the other end by where the noise is comming from. As the sound gets louder this lets you know where its comming from.

Than once you've found the general area of the sound, use a stethoscope or something more "fine" / particular to identify exactly where/what its comming from.

If you can atleast generalize what components its comming from, we can better advise you.

So it only happens after you shut the car off??? and it lasts for 2-3 minutes???

 

no its happens when my cars of and it happens EVERY 2-3 MINUTES not lasting it last like atleast 3-4 good seconds. yeah

 

with key in the ignition and accessories on?

or just while its sitting there turned completely off??

 

Is it the ABS pump running?

 

when the key is out of the car.

didnt get a chance to hear the noise (no speakers) but if it sounds like a fart, its 99.99% the evap can purging gasses (pun intended)

My god i have the same damn noise coming from mine.It is ANNOYING!! Like you said my car runs fine but this noise happens often.I would be sitting on my porch smoking and could hear it from there sometimes,and usually when i get in and shut my door it sometimes does it.Only when my car is off though.WEIRD
