Civic hatch axles, HELP!
I need to replace my axles in a 93 civic hatch DX manual trans. I cannot get the 32mm axle nut to break free. When my car was on jack stands, my brakes would not hold the wheel still while i tried to break it so I put the wheels back on and dropped the car to the ground and had a friend apply the brakes. I broke a 1/2" Craftsman Wrench, brand new. I the axle nut seems to have a piece that is bent into a groove that I tried to bend out but I also broke a craftsman flat head screw driver trying to do so. What do I do???? Please help, need my car driveable asap.
Thanks

all you can do is unbend the little tab and unscrew the nut. there is nothing else to do. i would suggest getting a breaker bar and put the car in fifth gear and put some wieght into it
I just had to do the same thing on my drivers side axel. I used a philips and a hammer to bend out that notch and beef it up a little bit by using a 3/4 ratchet and a breaker bar while the car is on the ground.
you just have to use a long wrench and a bar on it or a strong impact gun. I use the bar from my floor jack its like 5 ft long on top of my 3/4" 2 foot breaker bar usually works.
