what Temp does yours run at?
i,ve got a 600RR thats around four or five years old with around 11,000miles, i took it in to a place for a dyno run and the guy was sayin 'jesus its runnin real hot' it goes up to 106'C / 222'F in slow traffic and the fan comes on.
when im out on the road it anly goes as far as 84'C / 183'F and drops again when the stat opens so im presuming the stat is ok?
you reckon changing my coolant will help it run cooler? i had a look at whats in there and it looks good as new. i was going to change it right there but if the stat is fooked then i'd wanna order one of those before i drain the system. looks like its doing its job tho, right?
i dont have a hydrometer to check the coolant thats in there. that stuff could be gone to ****?
or are these temperatures normal and the guy in the shop was tryin to freak me into him checkin it out?

its normal, my 07 600rr was running at 222 degrees today in traffic in 85 degree weather. once i got moving over 60mph its stays at about 176 degrees.
well that looks settled so thanks. so it should never really go above much more than 106'C / 222'F. well im after buying the coolant so maybe i'll store it or change it in d car
below 220 F that's low
Actually with water wetter on my RC51 I've yet to see above 225 F this year. Last year I saw 245 and got concerned but that was before I switched to water wetter. One time with the water wetter on the street I got stuck in traffic and had to shut it off and push it because it was lingering around 245 or so. 250 it goes to limp mode.

my bike sits at 79*C if im moving at a good rate. in stop and go with little traffic it rises about 10* and if there is a lot of traffic it goes up to about 100* and starts to burn my legs a little lol
Stopping temps are going to be a lot different than moving temps which is what I'm seeing in this thread.
Anyone saying their bike runs at around 180ish, those are the temps while moving and I see the same. If I'm sitting at a stop light for a long time I see 220's and then the fan comes on.

While we are on the topic, my old gsxr 600, my buddies 05 636, my other buddies 954 and my f4i all run around 17x-18x ish riding around, and at stops hit like 22x max. My other buddy has a 08 gsxr 750 with 1600 miles on it and his bike always runs hot. When we are at 180-190 he is at 200-210. At a quick stop on a hot day his bike hit almost 240 where my f4i was just turning the fan on at 225. He has been back to the dealer 2 times and they say its "normal" for that bike......anyone else know if this is really normal? His fan is almost always on.

does'nt sound right does it? a buddy bought a '06 GSXR1000 and the stat went in that when it was very new. as a result she blew a hose so they had to sort it. but im not sure now if he had high temperatures leading up to that, i can tell ya after the weekend!

You replaces your coolant make it run at lower temp by using the basic concept water will run your bike run cooler than antifreeze. But also in colder weather will be easier to freeze and you don't want that. Look into it if temp bothers you but my 600rr runs at almost the exact temps you speak of and i think is fine.

so just water?! you'd wanna use distilled stuff tho or a rust inhibitor maybe.
yeah i think i knew after about 3 seconds the way i looked at him he was tryin to get a bit of work outta me. probably thought i wudn know what a temp gauge was, he was actin all cagey about putttin it on the dyno, said if it blows up its not his fault
i was fairly confident it wud do what it just did up the road! and it went fine

Its not completel water but its more water base than your regular coolant.
