People running oem 1-layer headgaskets!!!! 3 quesions
1Which layer on the oem headgasket are you running?
2Have you run into any problems running just the one layer?
3What kinda cam are you running?
I have a b18c1 and want to run s2s2 cams but i would like to up the comp without dissecting the bottom end. I figure using the 1layer headgasket will get me the comp where i wanna be but will i have enough clearance?
****-sorry for spelling "questions" wrong on my heading

Middle layer
No
BC3's
Clay the motor if you're worried about v2p clearance, but I doubt you'll have any unless the head or block has been machined a lot or the build isn't timed properly.

B18C1 on stock compression perform well with sks2 cams. Worry more about having a good intake manifold, header, and low restriction exhaust.
as far as i know, all those cams are less aggressive than the s2s2,i could be wrong but is anyone running something of the same size as the stage2 or the s2s2 themselves
The car will run fine with the GSR CR, sure it will perform better with a bit more CR, but if you resurface the head and use a thinner HG you should be aroune
10.2-10.3:1 CR. Tuning will be key.
Ask yourself this, is rebuilding the block to get 11:1 or whatever CR for another
5-10 HP worth the time, money and trouble? If your block is in good condition, you're better off spending your cash on quality bolt ons and headwork.
I wish that's what I would have done, $2K down the hole and my build still isn't done

im running the bottom layer with s2s1s in an h22a along with supertech flat faced valves. No problems for far.
If you want to try to figure out ur compression, after you take off your old headgasket measure the layer on that because the gasket will compress. Dont measure it off of your new gasket.
