Default HELP - Jdm ITR headlight HID blowing fuses

I dont know what to do..

this is about my jdm HID itr front end

The passenger HID works like a charm...

My driver side HID flickers for a second when i turn it on, but then shoots a fuse...

I checked the harness and there are no shorts (did this by running the plug that leads to the hid box into the cooling fan.. the cooling fan turned on and didnt blow any fuses)

I tried raising the size of the fuse to 30.. this time, it didnt blow a fuse, but the hid wouldnt turn on, and the wire running the HID's got really hot to the point where you can see it kind of melting.

any suggestions???

Check for loose grounds in the line. Your fan doesn't draw as much power as the headlight. Are you running the right fuse for it? check the grounds, and the little yellow ground box, if not take apart the hid.

im a double check the grounds..

but i doubt its the grounds... because at 15 and 20 fuses.. it shoots... at 30.. it doesnt shoot.. but the wire gets EXTREMELY hot...

im afraid to pull apart that thing..

but i gues i have no choice... im hoping its just the bulb that blown... but,, again, if its the bulb.. why would the fuse shoot?

so confused...

sounds like a bad hid ballast, try switching them.

Do not use higher than recommended fuse otherwise if you use a fuse rated higher
you could melt or burn 1 or more wires together somewhere. Possible you might have a bad ballast or possible small pinched wire around the ballast.
I suggest unplug the ballast and turn you headlight on to make sure you don't have a short somewhere else. If you don't blow a fuse swap ballast if everything a go. check the wire around the ballast to make sure it's not smashed.

yeah.. i took it apart... and everything 'seemed' fine..

i turned on the lights without the hid plugged in,, and nothing blew..

i looked at the bulb,, and it looked ok

so for sure its the ballast..

now ...

where do i get another one to replace this? is it possible to pick up another jdm honda itr ballast

the Hella Gen 3 or the oem denso ballast... is that a honda factory part replacement?

thanks for all of your help!!

Why does it have to be an 14 year old replacement ballast, why cant you just get a new one ?

Any ballast will do, even the e bay specials.

Preferably get like i said a Denso ballats or a Hella Gen3, it wont mount in the same location but find somewhere else to put it.

my driver side bulb just went out on me too. Yesterday it was working fine. I think something might be loose. Should I just try to swap the ballasts to make sure it's not the bulbs that are defective?
