Sorry for the retarded topic title, as mentioned in a few other topics, I'm new to the Honda game. I bought a car recently (93 civic ex with a 95 si D16 swap), and it already had an exhaust on it, of course lol. I later found out it was an OBX exhaust, which I also later learned, is garbage.

Now my question is this. I have black stuff coming out of the end of it, and building up on my rear fender. It's nothing extreme, but there is a slightly noticeable amount and I was wondering if this is normal, if it's bad, or if it's just a downside to having a garbage exhaust.

If it's a bad thing, what could be the possible cause, and where could I be directed to fix it? Thanks again.

 

I got a buildup on my 00 ex but its because I have leaky valve stem seals and I burn oil after my car sits, causing the buildup and crap to accumulate as it blows out my exhaust.

its from running rich if its like a black sooty buildup.. i noticed it too after i put my exhaust on could be a bad O2 sensor or bad cat but its hard to guess exactly what it is other than most likely you are running rich or burning a lot of oillike the previous post says

 

Ok, good thing. I just figured out what the check engine light that was coming on was for, and it was for the O2 sensor. So I'll see if the black stuff disappears. I plan on replacing the crap exhaust soon anyway.
