Default vtec troubles

my vtec in my 96 turbo gsr quit working i have probed the 3 wires for the lift solenoid and oil pressure switch and the wires proper continuity i have also ran constant power to the vtec and it did engage but not tuned for it so dont wanna run it that way, i also have proper oil pressure i have 70 psi at cold idle and 80psi at 4000 rpm when warm so there is more than enough oil pressure, its been all summer without it and want it back

Do you have a CEL? Maybe a knock sensor... or, there's a screen in the VTEC solenoid that acts as a filter, clean that out, put it back together and see how you make out.

Does your speedo work? I have run into the problem that if the speedo doesn't work, the vtec wont engage. Even with everything else working perfect.
