Default NA 3inch intake... for UNDER $100??!!

Im coming down to the nooks and cranies of finishing my 1.9L OEM build... and one of those nooks is an intake.

i wanna run a BPi Velocity Stack thru a 3inch pipe to a S2 68mm TB... but where the hell is everyone getting their 3inch pipes without breakin the bank?!
the only thing i know is 3inch made by AEM is the ITR CAI... (they dont make a SRI for ITR's)...

does anyone know if the AEM SRI for the 99-00 SI is a 3inch intake...?! cuz if so... its only like $130.. i can deal with that.

Part number is: 22-417

i just cant justify spending damn near $300 for a cold air... cutting it, then another $100 for the VS and K&N filter...

it's called Home Depot...head on over there and look for some cheap aluminum piping and see if you can find a local shop to weld some pieces together. slap on a K&N filter and some clamps...good to go...should be less than $100 all together

ok... maybe i didnt phrase it right..

this is a very clean car thats gonna be seen in shows as well as performing on the track.

home depot pipe with some boogered up welds isnt goin to
1) look appealing
or even
2) perform well.

is it a bad idea?? not at all.. i've done it plenty of times. you'd be surprised what some muffler pipe, a mig welder, and some wrinkle black paint can do when putting together a HomeMadeTurbo setup..

but if i was doing that, i wouldnt have asked this question.

i want a flawless, preferably polished, 3inch, name brand, with all the cute little brackets that fasten it to the bay, short ram intake.

i see them on clean NA setups all the time.... where are you ppl getting them and what car are you ordering them for??

and like i said, AEM only makes a CAI for the ITR thats a 3inch.. and its damn near $300

well, either get crafty and fab up your own from tubular Al stock (& polish, etc.) or cough up the $- but don't bitch that no one's interested in finding/making/selling you one for your asking price as you want it.

Ebay! I plan on doing the same when I start piecing together my build. You should be able to get everything and a filter for somewhere around $110. Dont let the extra $10 discourage you.

I'm using a Blue Samco arm w/Bpi/K&N, along with Blue Samco rad hoses on my LSVtec.

Samco arm is 3" all the way except the tip which is 3.5"

I run eBay ones they are 3" for the single cams, Message them sometimes they can tell you the size.

Vibrant makes some 3" ones for like 70ish

I was actually looking at that one too, the black one, because I want a cheap 3" alternative intake to run with a VS, but I read somewhere that some people bought "3 inch intakes" off ebay and they were 2.5 inches. If you end up getting that one could you measure it just to make sure and let us know? maybe snap some pichas? This way we can confirm that there is a seller on ebay who is selling legit 3" short rams.

Buy the bend and a ft of straight and make your own with a coupler (if you can't weld) for under 50$.
