Default Help me identify this mystery part...

I did an all motor LS-VTEC build with a B18B1 block. It's all together now, ready to go into my Integra. I've been meaning to ask you guys about this long ago, when it was still apart. This was the only piece out of all the nuts and bolts I had left.

Any ideas? It looks like an oil squirter of some kind to me but I can't make it fit anywhere....

You are a little late. Oil restrictor that goes in the block. Just need to remove the head and install. What else did you forget?

Can someone be more accurate with where exactly it goes? It goes on the top of the block? Between the block and the head?

This is an Ls-Vtec motor btw, and this is STILL absolutely necessary?

No, obviously you don't know what it is or you wouldn't be asking us.... take the head off and look. AFTER you buy a helms manual.

Without this your head will overflow with oil, and you will have little to no oil pressure.

HUUUUGE mistake, but better that you asked and found out before you ran the motor, Mistakes are how we learn.

No problem. Enjoy pulling the head and reinstalling your quarter sized part.

in most situations when building a engine. you should have "bonus parts" left over.

Yeah how did you miss that? At least you found out what it was before it was too late...

I wouldn't let the comments discourage you. Some people forget that every expert was once a beginner. At least you had the stones to ask. Like Natural Aspirations said, mistakes are how we learn.

Is this your first build?
