Default 94 ls odometer/trip gage not working

The speedometer and tach work just fine but my odometer and trip gage are staying the same. I am about to replace the vss but just wanted some additional input before i drop anymore sweet moo-la in to this and not get a positive result. is there anything else that i should check out before ultimate changing out the cluster.

It usually is the speed sensor, in 1 rare case that I've come across in a civic with a y7 swap running an ls ecu, it was the ecu. I tried changing the speed sensor many times, then changed the cluster. Then I just tried a po6, and kaboom, worked. iunno. a quick check to tell if its bad is to look at the speed sensor pins and look for corrosion and/or rust. When it doesn't have corrosion or rust, it doesn't mean its good. But if it does, its usually the problem.

My hatch did something kinda like that once, but the speedometer stopped working along with both trip and odometer, ended up being my "Backup" fuse under the dash was blown. As soon as I replaced it they all started working again.
