Default High Idle

92 prelude idling high at start up. After engine reaches normal temperature, idles decent. Is that the map sensor? Also, if i remove the map sensor, it idles high unless ac is on. but when its plugged up, it idles really low and eventually stalls out.

how high is high and how high is decent? I doubt it is the map sensor, many times when you are dealing with temperature related idling issues it is due to the FITV, however if the idle is always higher than normal you could have a vacuum leak. Does the rpm go high enough to bounce?

How high does it idle? The FITV is supposed to make it idle around 1500 until it's warm.

Forget about the MAP sensor...

decent i mean 1500 to 2000. not good, but its workable until new engine comes. But yeah, if i connect the sensor bolted on the rear of the throttle body, not sure of name, the idle jumps between 500 and 1500. im just trying to fix the problem until the new engine comes. i did get the k23, it will be here in a couple of weeks so be on the look out...

Fast Idle Thermo Valve. Valve filled with thermo-wax that holds the idle high until the car warms up...lots of cars have these.

Bottom of the throttle body. It can be adjusted if you have idle problems. Search around for threads, it's pretty easy to adjust...
