got my first bike........ naked content inside
had me this new 07 919 for about a week now and i love riding it! i thought the ITR was fun but this is a whole new world......... been off road since i was about 6, now finally hitting the streets at 24! anyways on with the pics, have done the standard fender chop, smaller signals, bar end mirrors, and have gold renthals on the way
best part, to me, is the vin..... ends in 919..... makes it just as special to me as the ITR

nice bike, be easy on the throttle until you get some serious miles on it and be sure to wear safety gear, it will save your life and or limb.
As a suggestion though, I would reccomend that you take a Motorcycle Safety Coarse, it will open your eyes to a lot of stuff that most don't even realize.
I took a man in his 50's that had been riding for over 30 years and his response to me afterwards was that he learned a lot and that he had been overlooking a lot of things the whole time he had been riding.

How exactly do you take a man in his 50's? Sounds rough.
The 919 is an alright choice for a first bike, a lot really depends on your mindset and attitude towards riding. It's essentially a detuned litrebike with a mild suspension, comfy ergo's, and so-so looks. Ride safe, whatever you do.

ummm, very easy. I worked with him at the Chevrolet dealership and he had just bought a new Honda Vulcan and it came with a 50%off coupon for a MSF riders course. I talked him into using it. We both registered for the following weekends class. I then picked him up in my truck that Saturday and we went up there. I took my advanced riders class and he took his beginner class.
Amazing how that works huh?

Nice bike & congrats.
Don't mind the "haters" and the ridiculous amounts of sarcasm.. its not like you're gonna go turn and sell the bike back because you didn't buy a 250.
Take it easy and go at your own pace. Ride safe.

Meh, engine size isn't the only thing that determines this. Many of the factors that make hardcore sportbikes bad beginner bikes are not present on this bike, extreme riding position for instance.
Its not the the world's best beginner's bike, but its not too bad either.
Edit: didn't phrase that right.

good luck with the bike, im actually looking at 919s, and 599s right now for my buddy.

No its not. Not at ALL.
Its not the worst choice to start with, but certainly not a good choice.
919 is basically just a naked 900RR, which was FAR from a beginner bike when it first came out, and is STILL a terrible beginners bike.
In fact, its probably about on the same level as a recent 600cc supersport... close to the same power, but a lot more torque, and way too much for a beginner to handle.

gonna have to disagree with you son. as much as i like seeing people start on ninja 250s, theres plenty of people out there that can start on liter size bikes.
i started on a high 9 second worked bandit and im still here. its called common sense and throttle control.

There are people who might SURVIVE starting on a supersport (or worse), but IF they manage to survive, you are seriously stunting your learning curve.
common sense and throttle control (or other BS) doesnt mean **** when you dont know what the hell you are doing on a bike.
how do you feel when someone on a 250 blows by you since you only learned how to survive and not actually ride?

the 900rr was mean due to the geometry of the bike, not so much the motor. correct me if i'm wrong, but that sure as **** doesn't look like a 900rr with the plastics removed *shrug*

As I said, the engine isn't the only factor that affects this.
