Default whats safe

a while back i posted asking about boring my b18c1 block to 84mm with a block guard. I got a reply saying i need sleeves. i thought that it would be no different from the size of a b20 stock sleeve but i hear it will crack. can someone tell me whats the largest size i can bore to where it still be safe for all motor lsv?

damn that don't give me much to play with. so i guess i should do a b20 or get a mazda3. lol.... this set me back cause i was doing the #'s and now it seems like i'm doing a 1.8/1.9 set up. i got everything except a head so i either sleeve the b18c 1 or sell it and get a b20. thanks

i would just sleeve the block instead of selling it, You will have the same block as the B20 plus it safer

sleeving the block is great if you have $1000. I doubt he does, in which case he should buy a b20 and use the money he would have spent on sleeves getting the engine built by someone qualified, so it will last.

If that many people are cracking sleeves lately, they're doing it wrong. For an example of a number of people doing it a little more correct, see this:
