Default d series girdle removal question

my cars got a slight rod knock. so i took the oil pan off to take a look, and found i have a spun rod bearing.

my plan is to take the rods off the crank while still in the car and use a micrometer to test for roundness on the crank, to see if i can just throw some new bearings in and call it a day.

question is, if i unbolt and take off the girdle, will the flywheel and crank pulley be enough to keep the crank from falling out of the car? i know its a lot of weight. or could this be damaging? what should i do? it looks like it wouldn't be fun to swap bearings with that girdle still in there...

if you just replacing rod bearings you dont need to remove the main bearings, so yes the crank will be ok, imo i would just pull the motor to do that because i found out the hard way usually if the rod bearings go the main bearings arent to far behind so you would have to pull the motor any way, so i would say replace them all
