Default US Accord Wagon, wheel question in engine bay

What is this use for by the car? As you can see its had alot of wear and needs replacing. Is this one I can do myself? Just really need to know what effect will be had if it breaks as I cant afford to replace right now due to work problems.

Thanks.

That is your belt for power steering. I recommend checking all of your other belts at the least (if not an outright replacement of all) judging from the condition of that belt.

Yeah Ive had a quick look at the other belts and the wear is nothing compared to that, I am unsure why it has taken so much wear in the past year, as it was pretty much perfect 1 year ago. THis is the only belt ive checked that has had so much wear.

Ahh atleast its just the power steering, will get mighty heavy suddenly if it snaps but should still be able to get it home.
