Wheel bearings - Do they require any maintenance?
Searched but couldn't find anything. The threads found are all about bearing replacements. I'm guessing our bearings (92 LX) don't need repacking or regreasing or anything? I realized I've messed with so much on this car and never once touched the wheel bearings (they are fine)
unless the bearings fail or become worn...you dont really service them. maybe take a peek to make sure nothing is out of place/rubbing. thats probably it.
id be sick if they were like skateboard bearings and you could just pop em off oil/grease push em in and be on your way...shiit you know id get the speed demon ceramics

no maint.
they get play, wobble... replace
they make noise, annoying... replace.
otherwise, drive it until the wheels fall off. then put some more wheels on and drive it some more.

well you really never have to do **** BUT if you swap a motor into that thing you will most likly have to replace them but it depends!! reason i say this is cuz in every civic that had a SOHC and we swapped a DOHC into it the weight of the new motor wears the bearings, just my exp, but no never have to grease them or service them until they need to be replaced.

they're sealed. no maintenance.
i've never had a problem with my wheel bearings going bad after a swap..
maybe you're over torquing the axle nut? or not torquing them enough?
