Default power loss around 2500

a somewhat growing problem i have with my 90 ls..... sometimes when i accelerate at about half throttle i seem to lose power between 2500 and 3k rpm... like it goes from steady acceleration till 2500, to slower, then gradually back up to steady once i get to 3k.
sometimes its bad like it wants to choke out..... id like to know what this is :/

This may sound stupid but does your exhaust have any leaks? I had the same problem you're describing and it was because I only had one of the two spring bolts that you need to attach your header to the exhaust, when this leak was occuring what you described happened to me while accelerating.

Though other things can be wrong...I can guarantee you there's an exhaust leak somewhere
