Default car broken into 2x in 2 days...suggestions?

i alreay posted this in the FI forum, but ive just had it. ever since i installed my turbo in my car, people have been trying to break into it. smart ******* too. didnt realize i had an alarm on my hood, but what they did was 1st night, opened my doors and alarm went off and they ran off. last night, they took off my driver's side bumper lens and somehow got ahold of the hood latch cable. i dunno why they didnt try to open it cuz this morning, all i did was yank on it and the hood popped open. how much is it to fix that cable?

i cant park in the garage cuz my dad just bought a 03 mercedes, and he's got priority. what should i do? this sucks! all i know is im sleeping in the room overlooking the street tonight.

Default Dude the thiefs are going to steal it if you don't do something.

For now I would just remove the main coil wire or something that will disable the car when it's parked. Also check for people following. They know you are on guard at home so they may want to take it while you are at the mall or something.

They will pull on the hood cable and cut the negative battery cable if they want time to disable the alarm. If you have cd, or $$stuff in the car take it out. Change your insurance for $0 deductable in case of vandalism. The hood cable has just been pulled out of the holding bracket.

The bracket holds the cable sleeve and once it's out of the sleeve it will pop the hood when pulled. I recommend you make a holding bracket than is closed not U shape to hold the sleeve.

If you can discard the cable mechanism and install an actuator strong enough to pop the hood with a hiden switch and install a mechanical bypass that is hard to access in case you battery dies some day. Also get a motion activated outdoor light and if you can a big *** nasty rotweiler.

change up that hoodlock for sure, the stock one is too easy to get to. Go buy a mechanical one (about $20) from like http://www.autotoys.com

You might consider getting a pager and a proximity sensor so you can get paged when people are near your car, plus your updated as to all stats of the car too add a pager on it should be about $90. This way, you get the vibrating page and look out.

Also try to keep a lower profile, now that you got turbo, watch who you show + tell to, people are jealous as well so it might not always be theft you have to worry about.

Good luck man

damn that sux where in CA is this?

anyway you should get a hood lock which locks your hood even if they yank on the stock hood release cable they still have to break/bypass the 2nd hoodlock/cable.. this way they can't get into your hood and cut your alarm wires..

you might also want to get a pager for your alarm so that it pages you when the alarm goes off or a door is open.. I have this on my car and it displays whether the shock/impact sensors went off or if a door, hood, or trunk has been opened in which case I'd run to my car armed...

you might also want to unplug your power door lock switch.. I mean you have an alarm and keyless entry (I assume) how often do you use the power door lock switches anyway? cuz a way for theives to get into the car is to put a wedge between the door and top roof/frame.. then use a coat hanger and flick the power door lock switch up... I disabled my power door locks and everything since I have keyless I don't need it and thats 1 less way for thieves to break in.. '

it is probably the same people that are after your car and either they saw you driving around town, or are a shady acquaintance or something so watch out and don't go telling every1 what you have in your car...

you might also want to get a proximity sensor so when someone comes up to the window it chirps.... you can also add battery back up, and an internal siren.. so when they get into the cabin their ears get blasted....

another thing you might want to do is put in a manual kill switch for after they defeat the alarm as another layer of security..

also put on an autolock pro on your clutch or a Club on the steering wheel .... yeah they can just cut the steering wheel.. but every piece of equipment takes that much longer to defeat.. so they might move onto an easier target..
having several layers of protection/security will make it HARDER to steal but no car is theft proff

Okay the next time they are gonna bring a lift and tow it away. You are luck you have some insight on how theives work....they aint as dumb as we think they are.
My advice would be to get a hood lock with ignition diasble...cant open hood to get alarm or bat wires and they can't push start it ( make sure its screwed to metal...cant tell you the number of times i saw these things screwed to plastic with enough slack to render it useless...wont tell you how) and add air horns...the more noise you make the better. Also since you are regulated to the garage...outside that is...get a motion triggered light for outside....check your local Home Depot,Menards,Walmart,etc.. ROACHES HATE LIGHT. And since im on the topic of garages...install a switch to cut power to the opener when you retire for the evening...You would be suprised to know that some garage doors will open up like a clam if enough pressure is applied to jack it up . A unknown person or persons hit a subdivision a few years back a group of bi levels or rows homes. they got into [B]50[B] homes. I found out because 3 of my customers vehicles were broken into and the decks stolen. Now they didnt touch the cars with alarms on them ( the 3 had alrms on newer cars not older ones)...so live and learn.

Do you have a driveway? Park there and park another car behind it. Or sell it and get another car. If they want it bad enough they will get it. You could get some kill switches; fuel, ign, start. Take out ecu/fuses.
