Integra Type R - Article Ideas?
The itr family still seems to be going strong, and with old owners going out and new itr owners coming in I feel it would be great to find out what your open opinions are on:
1. What you see in print and online articles?
2. What you would like to see in print and in open articles?
With things said and done, I like to be very foward in pushing attention and support to more things oriented towards the people and whats going on rather than large shows.
Thanks for your time fellas.

Great idea.
What I would like to see and know more about is the early development of the DC2R. Like all the various tuner shops that had a hand in making the chassis what is. Like FEEL's for example. All the lengths that Honda went thru to make the caR a cut above and the reasons they where deemed necessary. Maybe early drawings and prototype renditions. Explain the manufacturing process and how it came out of the same plant as the NSX and S2K. This post was really inspired by these pics which I cannot read.

I know I enjoy seeing track events along with real cars being put to real use. I don't really go out and buy magazines too much, just b/c I don't really think about it. Though this month I have bought 3 different ones... Honda-Tuning, Super Street, and Modified. I specifically bought these b/c they contained events that I was in or people that I knew were in (oh and I was in pics in 2 of the mags
)
I used to make it a point to buy them all the time years ago, but it to me seems to have become more or less a place for all these certain crews to showcase all their cars. It is very clicky and it seems like only those certain clicks get their cars in the mags. Now I'm fine with showcasing those cars, I understand that the showcars is what brings in most of the kids that buy magazines. But I think a broader range of people might pick them up if you were to add in some more track events that our type of group does, whether they are small events or big ones. I think more of us would pick it up if we start seeing our friends out there tracking. I know I have, as I mentioned earlier.
Oh yeah, I would love to see a feature on a beautiful silver 4dr ITR (with photos at the track). I do have a few events coming up shortly.

Wow, those pics are eerie. I agree, I want to see the beggining. What inspired them to make the Type R? More pictures of the plants, designs, prototypes, etc.
Also I want to see your average joe cars. More features on cars from amature builders. I really don't care to read about what shop built a beast car, it is interesting and a good learning article, but I want to see what people my age are doing working two jobs to put their car together. I see a lot of sponsored projects too, not really interested in those as much as a amature build. I actually have a car that isn't really ready but the goal is to be on the cover of HT or other mags. I have done it all by myself and thats the kind of articles that I like because they're about me.

Hey, Nolan, you idiot, its called Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, maybe you've noticed the free ones you receive in the mailbox? damn idiot
I agree with Nolan and Shawn, more track pics and articles about the people that attend would be nice as well as some history of the car. The coverage on expo was rather short and lame to be honest......it really doesn't even need to be about R's, just track events in general would be more interesting then the abundance of show cars that are always covered.
Either way, I'm subscribed, I like the mag, but I would definitely like to see more stuff about track cars/events and the people involved
Keep up the good work Ben, your pics are always top notch

Great post and pics Shawn
.
How the ITR came to be, who were the first shops/companies to offer aftermarket support and maybe a "then and now" comparison. What were guys doing with the car 10 years ago compared to now. What did a "modded" ITR look like 10 years ago compared to now.
I like seeing all kinds of ITR's. Show caRs, tRack Rats, daily driveRs, etc.
My $0.02

but totally agree with what alot of people have been saying.. what made honda make the type R.
Im 25 now and was a mag ***** when i was high school... put this way i have Jun R twin civic ek's poster in my garage.. which were featured on the super street years ago if the og's remember... but the constant oversized body kits and show cars in every mag was getting old..I was not learning or getting any kind technical gain that i was looking for. That was the way of how many of us found out about new products..
so in all, just want good information that some of us can use.

I think it would catch on like reality Tv... just when we see everyday people in it then we all tune in.. imo

LOL. I know what GRM is! I like that mag and it has a lot of good info in it, though that mag also has a lot about miata's and stuff like that. While I will still read those read those articles, there isn't enough in there on honda related products.
I think most Honda related publications, whether it be online or print, have gone to a more strictly show/show car theme. I enjoy looking at a nice show car as much as the other guy, but I think the mags need a little more Honda oriented variety. Some track time show, some normal car meets (ie...the Thanksgiving meet), etc...

Oh and I also think an article about an event like 24hrs of Lemons would be awesome to cover! To show what can be done with a piece of crap honda. LOL

Great idea Nolan! I've given this post a bit of thought instead of firing off my usual flippant broadside and was gonna suggest the We Todds.
I was hoping Ben could cover the Team Lazy 24 Hour Race of Champions but, well... see we were all too lazy to drive for 24 hours so we settled for a fast run to the Beer Barn.

If I'm the other guy, your argument is pretty weak
I would love to see some more stuff about non-show cars and perhaps some more east coast stuff. Let's face it, it is rather west coast biased. More stuff about the people that make things happen and history of the R and other cars would be great as well as talking about shops and builders. I also thought the expo article was a bit lacking. Aside from the number in the text it looked like there were about 12 cars there.

definately! Rarely do I hear anything about the east coast. Lemons coverage would be sweet.

You have failed the internetz...
Aside from what has been mentioned with the history of the car, it would be interesting to look at cars that stick out to you as an editor and get the full history about that specific car and more on the personality that owns that specific car:
1) Production number
2) How many owners before current owner
3) The story behind the purchase (as most all of us have some a neat story associated with buying R's)
4) What the car is used for
5) Modifications if any
6) Why the owner chose to purchase
7) Influences that person has
8) Possible future decisions with the car

Make just 1 issue of the mag an all ITR special.
Articles about the diff of ITR vs rest of integra lineup.
A how to JDM front for folks interested in that. And Car showcases on:
1 Clean Low Mileage ITR that is being kept in showroom spec.
1 Track ITR that is used for Track
1 Turbo ITR
1 AllMotor ITR
1 JDM showKarr/ mainly built to be a looker ITR

not a bad idea. all of these should be sans k-series though. That's nt what the ITR is all about.
