Default b17 info

hi i did a search but didnt come up with much info. i'd like to know what are the pros and cons between the b17 and b18 gsr. also id like to know if the internal parts are interchangeable. like the crank and what not.

The B17 is basically a stroked B16, pretty much identical in power. A bit lower compression ration though.

Unless you want a headache, I wouldn't bother trying to stick B17 parts in a B18c...not worth the effort.

b17 crank on a b16 block w/CTR pistons now thats a combo.....

The B16 and B17 blocks are the same ....But yeah, crazy compression with that combo

B16 block, B17 crank, sleeved and 84mm bore......cheap 1.8 sleeper engine

well the reason im asking is because i have a gsr head and i came across a b17 short block. so will this combo work? i wanted to know if b18c parts fit in the b17. im planning on building the engine any way. so does the b17 have a longer stroke than an ls? any input is appreciated.

Well, considering all the B series engines (cept B20) have the same bore, it's physically impossible a 1.7 can have a longer stroke than a 1.8.

Also, the deck heights are a lot shorter, you would be using custom rods with a 1.8 crank in the 1.6/1.7 block.
