ECM....i assume its a fancy word for ECU. well my point is that a mechanic said that my car has a defective ECM and i need a brand new one from the dealership and then it needs to be flushed. i asked where it was at and he said it was kinds under the steering wheel console. so im confused on what the hell he is talking about. so if i could get ur input that would help alot.
Passenger side floorboard underneath the right side of the dash, underneath the carpet. Flushed...? do you mean FLASHED? lol. That's an expensive fix right there. GL
Engine Control Module

Where what is at? Location of the ECM is not in question, if that is what you're reffering to.

More info would help out. What is your car doing? What model and what transmission? Reason I ask is that automatic transmission cars have a TCM (transmission control module) located behind the knee bolster on the drivers side.
ECM/PCM (Engine Control Module/Poweryrain Control Module) is located behind the passengers side kick panel.
