thats a hardass piece to take off. the screws are facing AWAY from you on the back. Hard as ****. theres no way to get it off easily that i know of, and its damn near impossible without a flexible screwdriver. ITs even harder putting it back in. id rather swap my motor again that take that piece off again.

I was under the impression that that was a permenant part of the dash... IE non-removable?
Nope... guess I'm wrong...

you're talking about a chevy right??? what kind of car would be nice...
how about try this: read the helms manual
on an ek it's pretty easy: remove glovebox lid (2 screws), drivers side lower panel (3 screws), middle lower panel(2 in middle, 2 on each side). then pop out the hazard & rear defroster things. remove radio (2 screws way in back) slide it out. pop out the little catch all thingy. then the climate control (4 screws on sides, 2 on back ... i think) then the black thing either just pops out or has a few screws holding it in.... i can't remember.
but if you have an eg it may be a totally different and more difficult process.
just go start unscrewing stuff. if you see screws, take them out, remove what they were holding, repeat. working on an interior is easy - just bag and tag all your screws so you don't have some left over.

Re: NEED HELP, Removing Radio Dash Trim???????? (compwc18)
Just did this & the answer is mos def YES. You need to remove the dash to replace this stupid trim piece. I just completed this on my wifes car after the theft and it took my about 4 hours since I have never done this or wanted to for that matter. You will need to remove the steering wheel, passenger airbag bolts, glove box, signal arms, climate control, gauge cluster. Thankfully I have done numerous gauge cluster swaps, radios, etc that I was familiar with getting it all back together without too many bolts left over...
I posted this for anyone else who may need to do this in the future. Hopefully the original poster has figured this out by now. You can AIM me if you need further clarification. I was in a bit of denial too that it would take this much work for 1 piece of trim, (especially one that seems to be so commonly broken in thefts).

Re: NEED HELP, Removing Radio Dash Trim???????? (gumtape_deathmatch)
I have taken mine out and put it back in without taking the whole dash out. For some taking out the whole dash may be easier. It takes small hands a few different lenght phillips screw drivers and a **** load of aggravation, a few beers helps too.

Re: NEED HELP, Removing Radio Dash Trim???????? (boostismycrack)
That things a bitch to take out and replace. I've had mine broken by ****** theives jackin a stock radio. i had a angled screw driver tool that looks like a weight liftin key but thinner and has a phillps head on the end made life a bit easier but still a bitch. first take out the steering wheel, temp control, radio, cluster, and all the openings close to the trim piece. then feel for screws that fasten the piece. after I unbolted the right side of the trim piece i was pissed at that **** and started to yank at it. i broke that half off and to my relief it made the other side easier for me since the other side got loose.
Putting it back was not that bad just dont put every screw back on just ones enough to hold the piece.
