Default flat paint(searched)

So I really enjoy the look of flat or satin painted cars. however 3 of the 5 paint shops around my area say they dont do flat paintjobs and wont ever give a reason why. So this brings the question, What are the cons of a flat/satin paintjob? Besides the fact you cant wax it. Thanks for your help

The paint is extremely hard to keep clean, once it gets dirty. Any oils/residues you pick up driving or otherwise, will either soak into the paint or break down the properties of the paint itself. Think of flat paint as "un-protected" paint. Clearcoat is like a shield, giving you a buffer zone to protect the color.

huh?

First off, in the world of PPG they have a flattening agent. There are paints which are single stage paints. I.E. they do not need a clear. You mix the flattening agent with the single stage black and walla!!!!! Flat black!!!
ORRRRR
They do have a low gloss clear which will give a satin look over the matte look. But the last time I bought some in DuPont it ran me $60 a qt...just as a reference, the normal clear we get costs $120 a gal.

Yeah,I was just going to say why not just find a clear coat that has a dull or less than gloss finish.

+1 on the tcpglobal hotrod flatz.

The paint is fairly cheap and the end results are very nice.

My dad is wanting to paint his hatch a satin green with clear, and this is the route were going.
