Masking tape wont come off
i taped corners of my new carbon fiber hood not to scratch it during installation, but now it doesn't come off. only the top layer peels off other half and glue stays on the hood
corners were taped with scotch #2090 blue and wide stripe of scotch #2020 white, blue came right off
any suggestions how to get it off without damaging the hood?

At the body shop, we only use bean-e-doo or goo-be-gone. You can get goo-b-gone at any walmart, the trick with that is time.... soak the areas with the goo b gone OVERNIGHT.... at least 12 hours, and the tape residue will come off like butter i promise you!
DO NOT USE GOOF OFF or any laquer based product. It will damage the clear coat on the hood and leave nasty stains. Good luck, and remember to follow the directions on the tape, no direct sunlight and must be removed in 24 hours (most tape).

and the blue tape is painters tape.... those usually have a life of 7-10 days ! Us only blue tape if you plan on leaving it on for a couple days

try using clay bar and spray wax( a mild clay bar should work). I use that to get overspray off of cars, along with tree sap and TAPE that has be sitting all summer long. wash the hood then use the bar. make sure you spray the tape and clay bar before going at it. shouldnt have to put much force into it. using goo-gone is risky stuff can eat at clear coat sitting on the paint( in your case carbon fiber) to long , i see that eat away at paint less than 10 mins.
i got it off with paint thinner, did not touch the paint and took all that nasty stuff off in seconds. then a round of soapy water to get rid of left overs of oily thinner
the problem is, i think the tape ate trough clear cote because i can see a stripe along where tape was which doesn't come off. it's not that bad, and only visible with eagle eye like mine
thanks all for suggestions!
