ok guys i need a little help. I am putting a motor in a 97 lude. I had the car up on jackstands (motor out) and someone comes along and cuts the converter off of it. They got the converter/oxygen sensor/downpipe. Kicks in the windshield goes through the car taking what they want. (lol i told the owner of the car to take everything out including the cd player before he brought me the car. All they got was $2 out of the console.) I was on my honeymoon when this happened. This is NOT my car and i am trying to keep from having to buy a new header/cat. does anyone have a stock converter or downpipe laying around in their garage. honda cat converters go for 100$ each easily. thats probably why

 

lol yea i know. Converters have alot of different rare metals in them, including platinum, irodium. Platinum is like $2k an ounce or something like that. And irodium is even more. These metal recycling places love when you show up with an converter. Converters off BMW, Audi, VW. are worth even more. I should have know to pull the converter off and put it in the trunk or something.

 

Working on someone elses car in the driveway and leaving it there? Nice.

 

ok. . . not really my fault. The machine shop i took it too said the motor would be ready 3 weeks before i left. so i wasn't planning on leaving it there. Second, it wasn't parked in a driveway. i was renting a garage at the apartment (well. . . not really a garage, no door). Third the apartment building has security (they must have been at the bar instead of working ) And last but not least, i told the car owner and he said it would be ok. The police wouldn't come out and do a report because i didn't know when it happened. I tried dealing with the apartment building since they have "security" and they said that there wasn't anything they could do. i am just trying to find some parts for cheap cause i'm doing the work for next to nothing anyway. I was to buy the windshield/converter/oxygen sensor/header i wouldn't be making any money at all.
