Default What is the correct way to mount my intake?

Ok, I got this aftermarket intake (short ram) that I have had on my car for about a year. I got to looking at different ones and I dont think I have the right intake. My car stock dont have the silver tubular intake manifold, it has a big black "box" on top of the manifold in which holds the stock filter. Well the way I got it set up now is I took out the stock filter but kept the black box on and im using the cone shaped filter that came with the intake.

So, thing is, here is a link to one I found on ebay, the way it sets up is you remove the black box all together and the intake pipe sticks straight down into the manifold. But the intake I got now wont do that due to its bend (I think the one I have is for cars that have the tubular manifold)

so my question is, is my set up ok or am I lacking or 'defending' the purpose for an aftermarket intake?? Thanks!

the way you have yous set up now would increase the flow more than stock but its not at its max potential if you would like it for all it can be then buy the entire intake like the one in link.. i doubt you'll see a big difference but its up to you

you said you have a short ram, but used your stock 'air box'.
here is my short ram:

i did not use the stock air box.
the link you posted is a Cold Air Intake that goes to the front of the car to get air that is cooler than under the hood.

I don't think any man should mount his intake. It could be quite painful.

You got the wrong intake for your car. If you're not happy with the way yours is set up, you could buy a coupler with a 90 degree bend & connect it directly to your throttle body. There are couplers that in addition to having the 90 degree bend have different sizes on each end. Like a 2" diameter on 1 end and 2.5" diameter on the other. If you go this route, just make sure to measure the throttle body and intake tube, to make sure you buy the right size.

Here is my current set up.

I put the stock airbox back on, plus plastic piping to custom fit a "Cool" air intake.

And this was my old setup, which wasn't as nice as the one I have now.

Personally, I feel a better response from the current set up (with black piping) than I did with the SRI.
