91 DA very weird situation
ok i have a 91 DA GS. i had to replace my stop light switch and when i screwed in the new one, i noticed that the plunger DOESNT HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL.
when you press the brake, the pedal moves away from the plunger, turning the brake lights on, when the brake pedal is released, it hits the plunger tuning the brake lights off.
but the thing is, on the brake pedal there is a small round hole that is prefabricated for somereason into the pedal arm (big metal piece pedal pad connects onto). with the new switch installed, the plunger goes straight thru that hole. basically defeating the purpose of the switch in the first place.
my question is how the hell would this have happened? the old switch was over tightened and im thinking MAYBE i bent the stationary piece that the switch goes into but im not sure. I put in the old switch and it goes thru that little hole also.
im thinking a quick fix is to fill in that hole with something...that way the pluger would be hit like normal.

oh geezus. here we go.
There is a button that goes in that little hole, it costs about $2.00 at honda. It supposed to decompress the button when you press the brake, hence the brake lights coming on. Get it and install it. And don't fill the hole. Spend the money on the correct part.

haha really? thats funny i bet i just knocked it out while i was down there. i was really going to "fill" the hole, but wrap come electrical tape around the arm and just let it be.
thanks
thanks
unfortunately I ran into the same problem, but mine was with the clutch switch. The little buttons break with age. I had to jump start my car for a week, in the rain, in miami, in the [freak]ing heat. Keep an eye on the one for the clutch, she'll give out any day now.
