Default Whine from speaker increases with rpm?

Since I got my crx back in sept 07, it emits this whiring whine from the front right. I thought a couple things, like emi from the alternator because it sounds like a mouse sized supercharger. It gains pitch with rpms. I read a honda mechanic tip paper the other day, and it suggested that the noise is in fact interference being picked up by the front right speaker wires, and played through the speaker. They suggest running a sole pair of wires from the stereo to the speaker.

Just a little tip if anyone else is having this problem.

When I get some time I'm gonna try it out and see if it will fix it.

Its a ground loop problem. Best to check your grounds, and if your running an aftermarket stereo, try and lead them together.

sounds like a ground loop but could also be something else.
1. bad ground to deck making deck get ground through antenna
2. bad speaker wires or wires slightly grounding out from deck to speaker

hard to tell without knowing the ENTIRE system and it's wiring.
if it's just a deck + 4 speakers it's gonna be easier to diagnose.

Any amplifiers, sound processors, EQs involved?

It is not a ground loop problem, [noise is from right front speaker only] as mentioned it is an "induced" noise.
If the OP has a power lead for an amp running on the right side, he needs to move the power lead away from the right side wire harness, come in lower on the firewall, [hole and grommet may need to be installed] then run power lead along floor pan next to rocker panel, [door sill].

The power lead can also be run down center of car, [on the right with the RCAs on the left].

accordaffair What did you get the car back from, what was being done? 94

I'm confused.. what did I get the car back from?

I bought the car in like nov last year, and its always had a whine like electrical interference as you wind through the rpms. The noise seems to be coming from the right side and I found this article (2nd post) that mentions it, and the potential fix.

Anyway, it used to have a stock radio which I couldn't get working (no unlock code) and the whine was there. Now I have an old aftermarket one and the whine is still there.

I haven't tried routing a new set of wires away from the originals like the article mentions, but I think it would work.

I just wanted to post this up in case anyone else was having this problem with their EF civic or crx
