Default ls/vtec handling stress?9,500rpm?told it could safely...

parts...
ctr pistons
acl rods&main bearing
arp connecting rod bolts
arp head studs
gsr ported&polish head
blox block guard
crower stage 2 cams(n/a)
skunk 2 pro cam gears
2.5 greddy sp2 catback
dc 4-1 headers
valvetrain max rev at 12,000rpm
hondata s300(obd1)
gsr tranny w/lsd

so will it handle 9500-10000rpms?

honestly what are you doing about fuel?? fuel pump? injestors? fuel rail? and i would get a girdle for your crank. other than that all depends on your tune if your motor isnt making power up there then theres no reason to swing it that high...

and 9500 seems very extreme for that setup. That header is choking you to death and what about intake manifold and throttlebody? Those ctr pistons in an ls block usually comes out to being reallly high compression ive seen setups with upwards of 13 cr.

What does the dyno chart look like?
Just do it, Rev it to 9.5-10k with a stock head gasket!!
Let me get this straight..... you bought springs/retainers that are good for 12krpms but are using stock rods that are good for (guessing game) rpms.... You are using ctr pistons with a heafty compression height with a gsr head and which head gasket?

Mad tight VTAK rev to tha moon and be keeping up with rocket ships y0!!

cometic head gasket
block guard helps too.
correction on the headers its a dc 4-2-1

I bet you will peak power anywhere from 7,500~8k MAX. So why rev past 8,500 if that is the case? Using the 89 crank with those rpm's, your piston speed will be insane....will it last? Yes. How long? Not very.

I was told 9800 is max. to get 80,000 miles out of it. But I have seen Meth-Heads wrong before.Probably 50,000 miles, like the Oxy guy's said, I trust them more.

x2

Why the hell is everyone so rev happy. Thats why all these built motors only last for 15-20K especially LS/VTEC's because you guys want to rev your motors to the moon.

Thats something I never understood, whether its on here or real world experience with people I meet they always want to rev beyond whats needed. Its probably mad gangsta to rev to 12k like spoon does with their engines.

Considering that setup won't be making positive power passed 8500 rpms reving it passed 9000 rpms is pointless.

exactly you rev to where you are making power to a lil bit more but there is no reason to be revving the motor 1000 to 1500 rpms past where you are making power... the people that do rev that high are people that are making power up there. If you are making power up over 9000 rpm's then rev "to the moon"... im making power up to 8800 to 9000 rpm's and you better belive im swinging to 9300 to 9500.

Or at least get REAL rods.......
What is your piston to deck height? Piston to head clearance?
These things might "kiss" your motor good bye if you get higher up in the revs.....

Good luck.
