Holes after Gutting

So i started to gutt my car today and i was wondering if people fill in all the holes that are left over, or do they just paint the interior withought filling them in

I did a quick google search and saw a line in the results that said "You can pop-rivet aluminum sheet metal to fill the holes". Don't know exactly what that means but you'd have to look it up.
