Okay I just bought a tool that removes the wheel bearing and presses it in with the knuckle still on the vehicle. Only prolbem is it is missing the tools that press out the hub or the "hub tamer". Is there anyway around this? I was thinking a 3 jaw puller with the axle still in the knuckle maybe? The price difference between my tool and the 1 that includes the hub tamer part is like 300 dollars. But its only one small difference and such a small tool, no way Ill cough up 300 hundred for it.

Anyone know? I know people say press it but I was kind trying to do wheel bearings without that. Anyone?

Anyone? I got 3/4 in impact heavy duty/ Will the 3 jaw puller work if I removed the hub nut and leave the axle in the knuckle?

 

Got a bearing seperator for the hub race, that will be cake.

piked it up for 29.99, and I liked it had its own case. Ive lost too manhy tools that didn't have a case.

Also the bearing will be a breeze too. The only problem is that I dont have the right tools to actually remove the hub prior to pressing the bearing out and bearing back in.

I basically have all the tools needed pictrued in this how to and more, all except for the one showed in picture 6 in the link. I thought a 3 jaw puller and and a 1400 ftlb max impact might pull it right off if I left the axle on. There are a million posts that say, the only way to do it is to take off the knuckle, take it to a machine shop, have them do it. Well that post proves otherwise, he did it with a cordless. I know my big *** impact will have no problem. I'm all abut time and money in the long run.

Am I going to bend the hub if I used a 3 jaw puller, could I damage the axle?

I just cannot find 1 post of some1 using it and it working and I just don't see how it works unless the big part is smaller than the bearing.

So any1 got any Ideas or am I stuck with the press till I buy the 3-500 dollar hub tamer tool that only includes like 4 more pieces and costs 10 times as much?
